Sunday morning my dad and I took a drive down south. We first stopped in the little town of Pinjarra, where we stumbled upon an arts and crafts fair (I guess you'd call it that). There was an art gallery set up, nicknacks were strung about everywhere, and there were lots of older people at the little cafe there. An old man was also playing spoons to some country western music. My dad also spent some time looking at the old farm machine museum thing they had set up as well. Before leaving, we ran into a possum in the tree! My dad decided to get nice and close for a picture, then shortly after it ran underneath the porch of the arts and crafts building where it most likely lived. We were off in the car again after that. Our next stop was a stretch of beach in Mandurah, a major city down south. after walking up and back down the beach, we ate at The Dome Cafe. It's a huge chain in Australia and some other countries as well. We drove into town and checked out this main strip along the water, where we ran into a huge pelican (of which dad had to torment and almost got his hand taken off). After stocked up on food and some ice cream, we headed for Rockingham and the Safety Bay area. We explored some beaches at both Secret Harbor and Safety Bay, both of which were too rough and windy to swim at. Though it did make for some awesome kite surfing and wind surfing sites at Safety Bay. And from there we drove back home through some industrial areas, along the coast, trough Fremantle, and back into town. What a long day!
